How To Make A Toga Costume

So you have been invited to a Toga Party this Halloween season and you aren’t quite sure how to make a toga costume?

Well, whether you are looking to make your own or purchase a toga costume you can do all of that here at caesar toga costume.com. If you are like me it is just easier to go buy a costume rather than going through the hassle of going to a store, picking out your pattern and then making your costume from scratch.

Toga Male Adult CostumeWithout stepping foot into a store you can get your Halloween toga costume right at home through an online website. You can purchase a costume in any size. I love the variety of costumes and the ideas you can find. Popular toga’s include: Toga Male Costume, Sexy Adult Aphrodite Costume, Roman Senator Adult Costume, Toga Woman Adult Costume, Caesar Adult Costume many more like these. Find the lowest prices online here starting from under $20.00.

However, with a toga costume it does not have to be all fancy or cause you to purchase a variety of props for your costume design. You can get away with making one with a simple plain bed sheet or a piece of cloth fabric.

Making a toga to fit a man or a woman can be quite tricky. A lot of costume makers will not advise you to use a bedsheet but if you do not have the time to go purchase your own fabric, it will work. Because men and women are built differently it is a good rule of thumb to go by your weight and height when determining the dimensions of your toga dress. Your fabric width should be the same as your height. And your fabric length should be around 3 to 5 times longer than your height.

When choosing a fabric it is usually more comfortable to buy a cotton blend. The lighter the material the less heavy and hot the costume will be when you are wearing it. But careful not to go too light so that your costume doesn’t fly up or cause an embarrassing scene.

The color of your toga is up to your imagination. Common colors are white or cream with a trim in burgundy, gold or purple. Although most cotton materials do not tend to bleed as much, it is still recommended to wash your fabric first before putting together your costume dress.

After you choose your fabric and have it cut to the correct size to fit your body (as indicated above) then you should be ready to begin constructing your costume. Like I mentioned earlier, it may just be easier to purchase an already made toga costume but if you prefer, follow these instructions on how one can be made at home.

Locate the midpoint of your pre-cut fabric and mark it; using a non-permanent item, such as tailors chalk, and draw out a semi-circle. Follow your half moon pattern and cut this shape and hem it by 1 cm until all raw ends are not visible. You can use a sewing machine or hemming tape (much faster if you do not want to sew) to make your hem.

Okay phew…the hard part is over (I am not a fan of sewing). Now it is time to complete that toga costume. See my next post and follow the instructions on how to tie a toga.

You may be wondering by now, “What do I wear under my toga?”. Well, there are a few options. You can wear a white t-shirt, a tunic or (if you’re really brave and adventurous) nothing at all. Either way wearing a toga and showing up to this years Halloween party will be a blast.

I have never gone to a party yet without receiving tons of compliments on my toga costume. What makes this costume fun is you can dress up with your partner and go together as toga toga’s.

Add to your costume by wearing a caesar style wreath or headpiece. If you want you can even accessorize by wearing armbands or gold bracelets. Dig out those leather pair of summer sandals from your closet and you are ready to have any one hail Caesar as you enter your party.
